I was having lunch with a kids pastor friend of mine last week and I was talking about how when you are so thirsty just a little water can make a big difference. That is excatly how it is in our walk with God. We can get so busy that sometimes we don't even realize how dry we can be until we experience his presence again. Then WOW - how we thrist for more of him!
I was reading an article "Running on Empty" from K Magazine (http://www.kidzmatter.com/index.cfm) Here are some signs you may need spiritual renewal by Tina Houser:
1. The Music is missing - how loud is your music when you are empty?
2. You've moved from participate to onlooker - you find every reason not to make it to a service (you're a pastor you have a lot of things to do....even during the service)
3. You now look for fault in leadership - oh no!
4. It's been a long time since something gave you goose bumps- when was the last time you heard something God did & it just gave you goosebumps or made you cry?
This past week during our Mother's Day service some of the kids did a dance to the song "When Love Takes You In" by Steven Curtis Chapman. As I watched them I realized how awesome is the call of God and how important it is that I'm full of God's presence so I can do God's work!
